DW's Child

This is my first attempt at blogging. I have been considering it for a while since I first discovered my youngest sister's blog accidentally one day on the Internet. I was Googling a band from our local area and found a reference to them and Brad Paisley. I was intrigued so I started reading the blog and the more I read, the more I was sure that my sister had written it. I went on to read the rest of the blogs that she had written and then I was sure that I was correct.

At first, I was amazed and shocked to have found her writings in such an off the wall manner. I am sure the odds of me discovering them are astronomical. Then as as began to read them, I spent an entire afternoon in tears.

She spoke of things in our childhood that only I and our other sister could possibly understand. We were never beaten or physically abused. We were, however; subjected to another kind of "abuse."

Our parents, mostly our father, never thought we did anything well enough. We were expected to get straight A's in school, but after you did, there was no praise or kind word given. It was just what you were supposed to do.

I played on a softball team for which my father was the coach. He was required to let me play a certain number of innings according to the league rules, but as soon as that time was fulfilled, I was pulled out of the game. I never believed that I was good enough to stay in the game.

We were not told verbally that we were loved nor were we physically told either by hugs or kisses.

These are just a few examples of the "abuse" that we were subjected to. I have a friend that was physically and mentally abused as a child. I know that the things that I grew up with are no comparison. They do; however, take their toll on children as my sisters and I can attest to.
Each of us has our own demons that we deal with. We cling to each other because our parents do not know how to show us love. At least I have that to be grateful for, because so many people do not speak to their siblings and I do not know what I would do without mine.
I love them very much.

Hey I found you. I am so slow, it took me a while to figure out the DW part. Duh!

Keep blogging. I love it!
